What makes this shelter great?

:

BARC is a no-kill shelter in Williamsburg. They have many larger dogs who are much harder to get adopted in the city. They work hard to keep their animals happy and put in safe homes.

Have owned two wonderful kitties adopted from this shelter and placed several stray animals I found on the street with them to be matched with loving homes. They are great people and true animal lovers.

I adopted my kitten from BARC almost a year ago. Such an amazing shelter and keep caring for their animals even after they've been adopted.

I love BARC. I have both my boys from them. They care about the pets and the homes they are given to They do Background checks and if you can't keep the dog they tell you please bring them back if you can no longer care for them. I love them because if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have my two best buddies :)

Thank you! I'm a BARC adopter and a BARC volunteer. The number of cats & dogs needing homes, and their past & stories, can be overwhelming. But these folks never stop - they keep caring for & advocating for them all. Everyone's help is much appreciated.

I love, love, love BARC! The work they do with these dogs is amazing. You would never know these animals had such heartbreaking pasts because they are so full of love now. They really deserve this.

Barc is the best shelter in williamsburg, they truly love and care for every animal and all the animals seem very friendly and happy. I did volunteer waking for them and all the dogs I had were the best!
They definitely deserve this money!

BARC is the GREATEST shelter in NY!!! They really do care for animals. I peek at their website often to keep up with their happy tails success stories. Always brings a smile and fuzzy feeling.

I started volunteering walking dogs at BARC and was amazed at the love they have for all of their animals past and present. They take in many that other shelters in NYC can't or won't. I believe my favorite was the elderly almost blind chihuahua who would run into people (I called myself his seeing eye person). I adopted my dog from BARC and can't say enough good things about them. They deserve this money.

Any animal shelter is worthy of a monetary grant, but I particularly love the BARC shelter and its treatment of the animals it houses, especially the older dogs. I recommend that they receive a charitable grant in order for them to continue their wonderful work on behalf of the animals. I hope that they do receive a grant and recognition of the overwhelming and unwavering love and help they show their animals. God bless them!

BARC is the best shelter I've ever come across! They are such lovely, caring people, and they really try their hardest to make sure that every animal is placed with the right home. I've now adopted two amazing dogs from them, and couldn't possibly be happier with my babies or the care they provided in connecting us. They are truly amazing people who do great work!

The owners and staff of Barc are so kindhearted that they've taken in injured chickens and pigeons, dogs that can't walk, cats with missing eyes, animals with burns, diabetes, hernias or seizures, and treated them with loving care for as long as it takes (sometimes for the rest of their short lives) despite the cost of insulin, burn medications and doggie wheelchairs. Somehow their kindheartedness seeps out into the community, too, and people come to adopt these very same animals -- along with the abandoned kittens, pit bulls, chihuahuas and tabbies that come through the shelter every week, often dropped outside the shelter in boxes or left tied to the door.

I adopted the love of my life from Barc, my dog Pepper. For that I am so grateful. They are really an amazing group. No animal is too challenging of a case for them. They take it all on. Missing limbs, medical problems, older animals.....they help them all.

I am very grateful for a shelter like BARC in our community. They truly love the animals they care for and do an excellent job in finding them fur-ever homes. We adopted our two kitties from them and couldn't imagine not having them in our lives.

Along with outstanding daily/medical care, the BARC team gives incredible attention to each animal through its amazing staff and volunteers who are passionate and compassionate about helping each and every animal. The BARC animals benefit from this caring environment -- which includes Reiki healing! -- and is it uplifting to see them place everything from kittens to epileptic senior cats into loving homes. They are so deserving of help to help them do such wonderful work.

What these guys do every day never ceases to amaze me. In a big city it is so nice to know that there are people out there who will do what it takes, and with an extra dose of compassion. I feel lucky to be a part of the community that knows, and benefits from a shelter like BARC.

These guys are so caring. We found our first cat, Brenda, there and we were so amazed at the level of commtment that they showed. They obviously love the animals they rescue. Brenda was an unblievably beautiful cat who pased away earlier this year. We have just taken on another two cats from BARC this past weekend and they were, once again, just brilliant to deal with. And. as much as they want the animals to find their 'Forever Homes' they show great responsibility about ensuring that they are gong to be the right fit.
It cannot be easy for them with limited resources and they are so deserving of a little help.
