What makes this shelter great?

:

The Bristol Animal Shelter is a small, underfunded, no kill animal shelter in Bristol, RI. The shelter is run by three Animal Control Officers, and a very small group of dedicated volunteers who help feed, clean, medicate, raise money, educate the public, and give love to each animal that comes through the door. Every year, they save hundreds of animals. Each animal gets the best care, medical attention, and behavior modification that they need. It is their belief that every animal has a forever home. The Bristol Animal Shelter is in the process of building a new animal shelter that will include a stress-free "pod" design for the dog kennels, a veterinary room, about 5,000 square feet dedicated to the animals, and a Humane Education Center. A $10,000 grant would be so useful, and could go towards vet bills, construction of the new building, supplies and furnishings needed for the new building, and food and medication for the animals in the shelter.

The people that run this shelter REALLY care about each and every animal that they come across. I witnessed thier love for animals on numerous occasions including a few weeks ago when I was sent to a residence as a firefighter to assist the ACO's extricating a small kitten that was wedged between a house foundation and a set of concrete stairs. Both ACO'S stood by while we slowly chipped away at the concrete stair to free the kitten. After the 45 extrication was successfully completed, the kitten was removed with the tender loving care that it needed and deserved. This shelter really needs this grant and deserves it !

Bristol Shelter is "the little shelter that could." I have adopted 3 special needs cats from them - cats who would never have been placed up for adoption in most other places in our state, even from the places who say they're no-kill. Since I first found BAS in 2009, I have learned just how far a dollar can stretch, and how a tiny, underfunded team in a leaky building and little else can work miracles for the animals in their care.

This $10,000 would make all the difference in the world to this shelter - please give them your vote and ask your friends to do the same!

My family discarded me on the local college campus. I was around 9 then, and no spring chicken. I felt lost and desperate. Thank heavens a nice Bristol Animal Shelter volunteer scooped me up. They saved my life and took care of me...
My new mom and I have been together a year and a half now and I can't imagine life without her. Please support this worthy shelter that is desperate for a new building. Right now it's cinder blocks on poisonous dump land. thanks and love, Miel

Both my dogs are shelter rescues and it's so important to support the shelter and the work they do! Without the necessary resources, neglected, abandoned, and abused animals cannot be taken in and cared for until they find the families they deserve. Please support the Bristol Animal Shelter!!

This shelter has the best intentions for animals and the room they have for cats makes my heart smile-this shelter is deserving of the grant because the people there have a genuine love for animals. We love the Bristol Animal Shelter and they need help.

This shelter continues to amaze me everyday. This place has changed my life in so many ways. $10,000 would go a long way in such a small shelter. PKEASE vote for the Bristol Animal Shelter.
