What makes this shelter great?

In addition to being the largest no-kill shelter in our area, the Center has increasingly taken on the need to care for companion animals who need extraordinary veterinary care. Dogs needing ACL surgery, hip replacement, heart worm treatment, Cushings disease; even a dog who tried to jump into a tree & now needs a plate in his leg. Being a private 501(c)3 non-profit, the Center gets over 90% of its funding from donations and fundraisers - and extraordinary vet care puts a giant strain on their finances. Nonetheless, the wonderful staff, volunteers & board of directors wouldn't have it any other way - it's what they are here to do! The Center understands that these animals still have a lot of love to give; they just need a little help getting back on their paws again. And the Center is there to provide that help, to them and the 500+ other critters who reside there while we find them their forever homes. Winning $10K would help them get there quicker and would enable helping even more!
