What makes this shelter great?

:

The mission of Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS) is to shelter and care for abandoned companion animals. FAAS supports Alameda’s residents by ensuring the proper care and support for all abandoned pets in the city. FAAS supports Alameda’s residents by ensuring the proper care and support for all abandoned pets in the city and is the only shelter serving Alameda.
Budget cuts in 2011, lead to a volunteer group to launch a “Save Our Shelter” campaign. On January 1, 2012 FAAS took over the management of the Alameda Shelter. The Alameda Police Department handles all animal control responsibilities while FAAS manages the shelter, adopt animals, educates the public on the importance of spay/neuter, microchipping pets and responsible pet ownership.
FAAS has accomplished a great deal in its first six months of operating the shelter, but there is so much more to do. FAAS plans include these new programs; mobile adoptions, microchip clinics, a pet loss support group, and humane

This shelter took in our dog after she ran away and took excellent care of her. They really care about the animals and I saw people walking the dogs. How wonderful for people to care so much about animals in need to take over the shelter!
