Montgomery County Humane Society (MCHS) utilizes a three-pronged strategy to find homes for cats, kittens, dogs, and small animals. MCHS highlights its animals in local media, including television broadcasts and print outlets. Animals are displayed in clean, hygienic cages and runs six days a week: from 12 to 7 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; and from 12 to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday. Scrupulous veterinary care and attention are paid to all animals, and individuals displaying symptoms of upper respiratory infection, kennel cough, conjunctivitis, or other significant disorders immediately receive appropriate prescriptions, or referrals to outside veterinary clinics. Finally, every cat, kitten, dog, or puppy adopted from Montgomery County Humane Society must be spayed and neutered before the adoption process is complete. In this way, the cycle of excessive reproduction and pet overpopulation is addressed at the outset. All pets receive microchips as well before they go home.
