The Animal Orphanage

My name is Ozzie and the orphanage helped me find my forever home. I was at the shelter for 5 long weeks. I think I was there so long because of my spotty tartar teeth and scruffy hair.The orphanage is a wonderful organization that took care of me when I needed it, but their building does not match the heart that they have. The building needs updating. I think they deserve a grant to further their work because they have dedicated staff and volunteers and the only thing holding them back is finding money. They have a life saving program where dogs from high kill shelters in the south are bought to NJ to be adopted. They also come up with creative events to raise money and they are always getting the word out on petfinder and facebook. They are making an impact and I do not know where I would be if they hadn't taken me in. I am so glad that they are a no kill shelter. Please help them take care of other cats and dogs like me. Forever grateful, Ozzie

I'm writing for Samson because he's currently enjoying his new FURever home with my wife and me. We adopted him from the shelter after a few years of donating supplies and other stuff. Two of my friends turned us in the direction of the Animal Orphanage when they got their dogs from there. I can't think of a better place! They are dedicated and compassionate. It's such a hard job to watch all of these animals come in, many without a place to go. But they are tireless in the efforts to get the dogs and cats matched with their new owners. I loved the background checks and how protective they are of their animals while still giving them all the love they can. No other place is more deserving of the money!

One of the very best shelters I have ever seen. Dedicated, compasionate and you feel and see that from the moment you walk thru the door. I have personally witnessed the director going out of her way at midnight for one frantic pet owner. The dog was believed to have been picked up by animal control, and was in desperate need of his medication. Without pause she contacted the owner and drove down to the shelter to release the dog. Everything, EVERYTHING they do is in the very best interest of their animals, I don't know a more deserving shelter to shine the light on! <3 Peace, Paws & Licks

Also a proud volunteer at this amazing place. The positive energy surrounding the rather decrepit building is boundless. We could surely use any amount of money to help us continue our mission of giving homeless pets a second chance. Thank you to everyone who supports us!

I so enjoy helping one of the Foster Moms from the shelter. Their Foster parents bring cats and dogs into their homes that don't do well in the shelter, they make them part of their family all while they prepared them for their forever family. This shelter deserves so much praise, they are loving, compassionate and devoted to all the animals. Voorhess Animal Orphanage, no other does it better!

We adopted both of our pups from AO...their volunteers are wonderful, caring and tireless! One of our pups was rescued from a kill shelter in Georgia...I'm very grateful they saved our little Southern Belle and turned her into a Jersey Girl! Thanks AO for all that you do for all dogs and so many cats!

The Animal Orphanage is a wonderful open intake shelter in Voorhees, NJ. And I'm proud to be a volunteer there. The staff and volunteers give 100% of themselves every day to the care and maintenance of the shelter and it's many lovable, adoptable orphans. It is a tremendously wonderful organization which features dogs and cats of all types and sizes, and all the people who work there are awesome!

We call the Animal Orphanage "the Little Shelter that Could." It is open admission and no kill, which is a challenge, but the AO believes tha every cat and dog deserves a chance for a good and loving home.

I live in rural Minnesota and know about this awesome no-kill shelter and its volunteers via Facebook. Their social media is some of the best around, not the least because I get to see cuties like Ozzie daily. Another plus: the shelter doesn't just help little cuties but also helps big dogs and lots of kitties, too.
